Genting Dream Ship Information 2026: Size, Capacity, Specifications & Facilities
Genting Dream is 150,695 GT, 335 m long and 18 decks high, with 1,674 staterooms and 3,352 guests at lower berth. She was built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, launched in August 2016 and entered service that November, and she has sailed year-round from Singapore since 2022. Those numbers matter for one practical reason: at roughly 45 gross tons of ship per guest, she is more spacious per person than the newer, bigger ships now sailing from Singapore.
Quick answer: 150,695 GT · 335 m long · 39.7 m beam · 18 decks (14 guest-accessible) · 1,674 staterooms · 3,352 guests · about 1,700 crew · service speed over 23 knots · built 2016 by Meyer Werft · IMO 9733105 · registered in Nassau, Bahamas · operated by Dream Cruises, part of StarDream Cruises · homeported year-round at Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore.
Updated 25 September 2026 by the Singapore Star Cruise cruise desk. Tonnage, dimensions, deck count, stateroom count and guest capacity are taken from the official Genting Dream ship brochure 2026 (v4). Build history, IMO number, flag and machinery come from the ship's public register entry. Where third-party databases differ from the cruise line's own figures, we say so below rather than picking the bigger number.

What those numbers actually mean on board
Specifications only help if you can translate them, so here is what each one changes about your cruise.
- 45 gross tons per guest. Divide 150,695 GT by 3,352 guests and you get the space ratio cruise planners use. Genting Dream sits at about 45, which is comfortable for a mainstream ship — you feel it most at the pool deck and the theatre, where there is room to move even on a full sailing.
- Two guests per crew member. About 1,700 crew for 3,352 guests is roughly 2:1, and it shows in the survey scores: service and hospitality is the highest-rated category on this ship at 94% across 5,927 of our guests.
- 335 m is a long walk. Bow to stern is about three and a half football pitches. Learn two decks — 16 for food and pools, 7 for the theatre — and you will stop criss-crossing the ship.
- 18 decks, but no Deck 14. The number is considered unlucky in several Asian cultures, so the numbering runs 13 then 15. Nothing is hidden.
- Over 23 knots. Fast enough to reach Phuket from Singapore overnight, which is what makes the 3-night Phuket itinerary with an overnight in port possible.
- 8.3 m draft. Shallow enough for regional ports like Port Klang and Penang, which is why the ship berths alongside rather than tendering at most calls.
Passenger and crew capacity

The cruise line's own brochure gives 3,352 guests at lower berth — that is two people per cabin, the figure the industry uses. With every upper berth, pullman and sofa bed occupied the ship carries more, which is why you will see 3,400 or higher quoted elsewhere. On a school-holiday sailing the real number is closer to the higher figure, and you notice it at the buffet.
Crew figures vary by source: the ship's register lists about 1,700, while some cruise databases quote just over 2,000. We use 1,700 because it matches the public register. Either way the ratio is close to two guests per crew member.
Who owns and operates Genting Dream
The ownership history explains the name changes you will see in older articles and on booking sites:
- Ordered in October 2013 for Star Cruises, then transferred to the new Dream Cruises brand during construction.
- 2016 to 2022: operated by Dream Cruises under Genting Hong Kong, sailing mainly from China and later Singapore.
- 2022 to 2025: operated by Resorts World Cruises after Genting Hong Kong's insolvency, with Genting Dream restarting Singapore sailings in June 2022 — the relaunch that also brought the halal-certified galley.
- 2025 onwards: the operator rebranded as StarDream Cruises, reviving both the Star Cruises and Dream Cruises names. Genting Dream sails under the Dream Cruises brand; Star Voyager and Star Navigator under StarCruises.
- 2026 is the tenth anniversary year, marked on board by the Broadway revue Forever Broadway, which premiered on 5 June 2026.
The ship itself has been financed by a leasing consortium since 2020, which is normal for vessels of this size and makes no difference to your booking.
How big is Genting Dream compared with other Singapore ships?
| Ship | Tonnage | Guests | Space per guest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Disney Adventure | Over 208,000 GT | About 6,700 | About 31 GT |
| Genting Dream | 150,695 GT | 3,352 | About 45 GT |
| Star Voyager | 77,441 GT | 1,944 | About 40 GT |
Bigger is not automatically roomier. Disney Adventure is the largest ship sailing from Singapore, but it also carries twice as many guests as Genting Dream, so the space each passenger gets is lower. The full comparison, including ports and prices, is in Genting Dream vs Disney Adventure and Star Voyager vs Genting Dream.

Claims about this ship that need a caveat
Several pages about Genting Dream repeat features from the 2016 launch brochure that do not apply to a Singapore sailing today. Before you book on the strength of one of them, know this:
- Mini-submarines. Dream Cruises ships were designed with two small submarines for underwater excursions at selected Asian destinations. They are not part of the current 2 to 5-night Singapore and Malaysia itineraries, so do not book expecting a submarine dive. If you see a page advertising it for a Singapore sailing, ask for it in writing.
- Cabin and crew counts. The cruise line says 1,674 staterooms and about 1,700 crew; some databases list 1,686 cabins and over 2,000 crew. We use the line's own figures.
- Restaurant names. Venue names have changed since launch. The current inclusive restaurants are The Lido, both Dream Dining Rooms and Function 8 — see the dining guide.
- "Resorts World Cruises" branding. Still correct for 2022 to 2025; the operator is now StarDream Cruises.

About this guide
Singapore Star Cruise is an independent cruise travel agency with a booking team in Singapore and consultants in New Delhi. We book this ship every week, which is why this page separates the cruise line's own published figures from the numbers that circulate on third-party databases, and flags the launch-era features that no longer apply to Singapore sailings. Specifications change after a refit, so we re-check this page against each new brochure.
