Star Voyager Cruise Activities & Entertainment Guide 2026: Things to Do, Dining & Costs

Star Voyager is StarCruises' mid-size ship sailing short cruises from Singapore between 25 September 2026 and 1 January 2027. Onboard you get a kids' water park with slides, an Adventure Park with a rock wall, zip line and plank walk, lawn bowls, nightly shows in the Zodiac Theatre, a casino, a spa and three restaurants included in your fare. This guide lists what there is to do, where each venue is, what costs extra, and how to plan a two or three-night trip so you don't waste any time.

Quick answer: Your fare covers meals at The Lido, Sophia and The North Star Dining Room, the pools and water slides, the Adventure Park, lawn bowls, shuffleboard and the Zodiac Theatre shows. You pay extra for specialty restaurants, bars and most drinks, Wi-Fi (from SGD 24 for a 2-night cruise), spa treatments, the casino, shore excursions and gratuities (SGD 27 to 40 per person per night, depending on cabin).

Star Voyager at a glance

Star Voyager carries about half as many guests as Genting Dream. That size shapes the whole trip: queues for the lifts and the buffet are shorter, you can walk from the theatre to the pool deck in a few minutes, and you can see most of the ship in a two-night cruise.

What's included and what costs extra

This is the question we're asked most often. Here is the split, based on the official cruise guide.

Deck activities run on a daily schedule and close in bad weather or strong wind. The schedule is published in the StarCruises app and at Reception on Deck 5 each day, so check it on boarding day and plan around it.

Top things to do on Star Voyager

1. Aqua Park and water slides (Deck 15, aft)

The kids' water park and the twisting slides sit at the top of the ship, towards the back. They are the busiest spot on a sea day from about 10am. Go right after breakfast or in the late afternoon when the sun is lower. Lifeguard rules and height limits are posted at the entrance. Children who aren't toilet-trained need swim nappies, so pack a few.

2. Adventure Park: rock wall, zip line and walk the plank (Deck 14, midship)

The ropes course is Star Voyager's signature activity for teens and adults. StarCruises' own packing list asks guests to bring sneakers or closed-toe shoes for the rock wall and zip line, and staff will turn you away in sandals. Expect a waiver and a short safety briefing. On a two-night weekend cruise, do it on the sea day morning. It closes first when the wind picks up.

3. Main pool and hot tubs

The main pool is on the open deck, with the Pool Bar beside it and hot tubs nearby. Loungers fill by mid-morning on sea days. People reserving them with towels is common, so arriving early helps more than arguing does. Evening deck parties are held here on most sailings.

4. Lawn bowls, shuffleboard and The Vibe Check

Quieter games for grandparents, couples and anyone avoiding the slide queue. The cruise guide lists lawn bowls on Deck 11 aft, with shuffleboard and The Vibe Check (a hangout zone for older kids and teens) on Deck 12 aft. They are rarely crowded, even on full sailings.

5. Zodiac Theatre shows (Deck 7, forward)

The Zodiac Theatre hosts the evening production shows: song-and-dance revues, acrobatics, magic and comedy, with a different programme each night. Shows are included, and busy nights often have two performances. The earlier show is easier with children, and the later one is less crowded. Seats are first come, first served, so arrive 15 minutes early for a centre view. Palace guests get priority seating.

6. Red Carpet night

StarCruises' packing list asks guests to bring "glamorous attire for Red Carpet". It is the ship's dress-up evening, with photos on the red carpet and a livelier crowd in the bars afterwards. There is no strict formal code: a dress or a collared shirt and smart trousers is enough. It is the best night for family photos, so plan an outfit.

7. Bars, live music and late nights

Star Voyager has a spread of bars rather than one big club:

• Velvet Lounge (Deck 7, midship): the main evening lounge for live music and entertainment.
• Ocean Bar and Palm Court (Deck 7, forward): close to the theatre, good for a drink before or after a show.
• Sky Bar (Deck 15, forward) and Oasis Bar (Deck 14, aft): open-air, best at sunset.
• Pool Bar (Deck 12): daytime drinks by the pool.

Drinks are paid by the glass unless you buy a package (see costs below). The minimum age for alcohol onboard is 18.

8. Casino

The Genting Club casino, with a VIP area and high-limit slots, opens once the ship is in international waters. That means it stays closed while you are alongside in port and for the first hour or so after sailing. It is for adults only, and ID may be checked. Casino chips and machine play are charged to your cruise card or paid in cash.

9. Symphony Spa, Salon, Studio and Fitness (Deck 12, aft)

Wellness is grouped in one area: the Symphony Spa & Wellness for massages and treatments, the Symphony Salon for hair and nails, the Symphony Studio for classes, and the Symphony Fitness gym. The gym is free. Treatments are paid, and port days are often the quietest (and sometimes cheapest) time to book. Palace guests get 10% off spa and retail.

10. Shopping and photos

The Starlight Boutiques on Decks 5 and 6 (midship) sell duty-free liquor, cosmetics, watches and souvenirs. The ship photographers work the gangway, formal night and the red carpet. You only pay for the photos you choose.

Dining on Star Voyager: free and paid restaurants

Three restaurants are included in your fare. You won't go hungry on a two or three-night trip without spending anything extra on food.

Halal and vegetarian: the official brochure says halal options are available at The Lido on request. Star Voyager is not a certified halal ship like Genting Dream. Guests who need full certification should read our halal Genting Dream guide. Vegetarian and Jain meals can be requested; tell us when you book and we'll add the note to your reservation.

Tip: the Lido gets busiest at 12:30pm and 6:30pm. Eat half an hour either side of those times, or use the North Star Dining Room for a proper seat.

Star Voyager for kids and families

Star Voyager works well for families with children aged about 4 to 14. Here is what the ship offers them:

• Little Dreamers Club (Deck 12, aft): the supervised kids' club with games, crafts and themed sessions. Sessions are organised by age group. The day's timetable and any paid sessions are posted onboard, so register your child on boarding day.
• Aqua Park and slides for all ages (height limits apply on the bigger slides).
• Adventure Park for older kids who meet the height rule, and The Vibe Check for teens.
• Zodiac Theatre shows, which are family-friendly.

Palace suite guests get an exclusive kids' programme for ages 2 to 12. Gratuities are waived for children under two. Babies need to meet StarCruises' minimum age rule on the sailing date, so check it before you book an infant.

Family tip: book adjoining interior or oceanview cabins on Deck 5 or 6. They are close to The North Star Dining Room, Sophia and Reception, and quieter than cabins just under the pool deck.

Onboard costs: Wi-Fi, drinks and gratuities

These are the charges that decide what the cruise really costs. All prices are in SGD from the official cruise guide and cover the whole cruise per device (Wi-Fi) or per guest (gratuities).

Wi-Fi packages

Standard handles messaging, email and browsing. Choose Premium only if you need video calls or streaming. Buying before you sail on stardreamcruises.com is usually cheaper than buying onboard. Gratuities

Gratuities are charged per guest to your onboard account and waived for children under two. A family of four in an interior cabin on a two-night cruise pays SGD 216 in gratuities (4 × 54), so budget for it from the start.

Drinks packages

• Treat: SGD 15 per night. Non-alcoholic (soft drinks, juices, mocktails, specialty coffee). Open to all ages.
• Deluxe: SGD 75 per night. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Guests 18 and over.
• Elite: SGD 100 per night. The premium tier with a wider drinks list. Guests 18 and over.

Is it worth it? The Deluxe package pays off at about six or seven drinks a day. If you are a two-cocktail-a-night guest, pay as you go.

The Palace: Star Voyager's ship-within-a-ship

The Palace is StarCruises' all-suite enclave with its own restaurant, butlers and lounge. StarCruises calls it the largest ship-within-a-ship on any cruise liner. According to the official Palace brochure, guests get:

• At the terminal: a VIP lounge, priority check-in with a butler, fast-track security and priority luggage.
• In the suite: a 24-hour butler, free Standard Wi-Fi, premium bedding and bath amenities, a capsule coffee machine, a welcome minibar and fruit plate, and a pressing service.
• Dining: exclusive use of the 24-hour Palace Restaurant (Deck 14), set-meal entitlements at designated specialty restaurants, in-suite dining, happy hour drinks, free-flow juices, teas and coffee, and priority Chef's Table bookings.
• Extras: priority seating for shows, a Palace-only kids' programme for ages 2 to 12, and 10% off spa and retail.

Palace suites range from the Palace Balcony (from 16.6 sqm) to the Palace Penthouse (up to 64.5 sqm). On a short cruise, The Palace is worth it mainly for families who want the butler and a private restaurant with no queues. Compare it in our Palace suites page.

Cabin types at a glance

Interior cabins that sleep five are rare on Singapore ships, which makes Star Voyager a good fit for larger families on a budget. Our Star Voyager review covers what the cabins are like in practice.

Where Star Voyager sails from Singapore (2026 season)

Star Voyager's Singapore season runs from 25 September 2026 to 1 January 2027. Every sailing goes to Malaysia or stays at sea. Thailand calls (Phuket and Krabi) are only on December departures from Port Klang.

On port days most onboard activities slow down, and the pools and Adventure Park are quieter. A weekend high-seas cruise gives you the most time on the ship. A sample sea day on Star Voyager

This is how we suggest guests spend the Saturday of a two-night weekend cruise, so they fit in the best activities without queuing:

• 7:30am: breakfast at The Lido before the rush, or a sit-down breakfast if the North Star Dining Room is serving.
• 9:00am: Adventure Park (rock wall and zip line) while the wind is calm and the queue is short.
• 10:30am: water slides and the Aqua Park with the kids, or the gym and a class at Symphony Studio.
• 12:00pm: lunch in Sophia or the North Star Dining Room. Service is calmer than the buffet.
• 2:00pm: spa treatment, lawn bowls, or a nap. The afternoon sun on deck is fierce.
• 5:00pm: the kids' club session for the children, sunset drinks at Sky Bar for the adults.
• 7:00pm: dinner, then the Zodiac Theatre show.
• 10:00pm onwards: live music at Velvet Lounge, the deck party, or the casino.

What to pack, and what you can't bring

Pack (from StarCruises' official list, with our additions):

• A passport valid at least six months from the sailing date, plus any visas you need. Indian passport holders need a Singapore visa, and Malaysia is visa-free for Indians for 30-day stays until 31 December 2026.
• Some SGD cash and a card.
• An outfit for Red Carpet night.
• Swimwear, a hat and reef-safe sunscreen.
• Sneakers or closed-toe shoes for the rock wall and zip line.
• A light jacket, because the theatre and restaurants are well air-conditioned.
• Any medicines in your hand luggage.

Not allowed onboard: flammables, sharp objects and weapons, illegal drugs, raw food, your own alcohol, e-vaporisers (a criminal offence in Singapore), and electrical items such as clothes irons and extension cords. Bring a plug adapter without a cable.

Boarding and check-in tips

• Online check-in is mandatory and closes 48 hours before departure. Do it early so you get a good boarding slot.
• Arrive at your assigned time. Singapore Cruise Centre is at 5 Harbourfront Avenue, connected to HarbourFront MRT through VivoCity. You can't bring food into the terminal waiting area.
• Submit the SG Arrival Card online within three days before the ship returns to Singapore. This applies to every guest, residents included.

Star Voyager or Genting Dream?

Genting Dream is bigger, with more restaurants, a larger water park and certified halal-friendly dining, and it sails from Singapore all year. Star Voyager is smaller and usually cheaper. It reaches Pangkor, Langkawi and Melaka, and offers one-night one-way sailings that Genting Dream doesn't. For a first family cruise with lots to do, choose Genting Dream.
