Straight answer first

What The Palace actually is

The Palace is Dream Cruises' all-suite concept — a private, key-card enclave on the top decks of Genting Dream, with its own restaurant, pool, sun deck and reception. The cruise line calls it the largest luxury ship-within-a-ship enclave found on any cruise liner.

In practice it means three things. Every room is a suite — the smallest Palace room is bigger than the largest ordinary balcony stateroom. A butler handles the trip, from the terminal queue to your dinner reservations. And parts of the ship are yours alone: a pool, a sun deck with cabanas, a 24-hour restaurant and a reception that other guests cannot enter.

It is not a different ship. You still get every restaurant, slide, show and club on Genting Dream. The Palace sits on top of that.

How the cruise line describes it

Four things you are paying for

The brochure calls these the four pillars of The Palace. This is what each one means once you are on board.

  • All-Suite Accommodations

Every room in The Palace is a suite, averaging over 42 square metres with an oversized private balcony. The smallest Palace suite is larger than most balcony staterooms elsewhere on the ship.

  • All-Butler Service

A European-trained butler is on call 24 hours. They handle check-in, unpack and press garments, shine shoes, book your spa, dining and shore excursions, and serve afternoon tea, dinner, cocktails or room service in your suite.

  • All-Indulgent Benefits

Priority check-in and embarkation, a VIP lounge at the terminal, complimentary Wi-Fi for the whole cruise, priority access to specialty restaurants, spa facilities and shows, and priority luggage handling with express delivery.

  • All-Encompassing Spaces

A private restaurant open 24 hours, a Palace-only pool and sun deck, private cabanas and a dedicated reception — none of it shared with the rest of the ship.

Official sizes and decks

The five Palace suites

Smallest first. Sizes and bedding come straight from the cruise line's brochure — where a category covers a wide range, we say so rather than quoting the best case.

SuiteSizeDecksSleepsBedding
Palace Suite 37–40 sq m Decks 13, 15, 16 and 17 Up to 4 1 queen bed and 1 double sofa bed
Palace Deluxe Suite From 41 sq m Deck 15 Up to 4 1 queen bed and 1 double sofa bed
Palace Deluxe Premium 41–61 sq m Decks 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15 Up to 4 1 king bed and 1 double sofa bed
Palace Penthouse 56–115.4 sq m Decks 13 and 16 4 to 6 Configurations vary by suite
Palace Villa About 224 sq m Deck 17 Up to 6 1 king bed, 1 queen bed and 1 double sofa bed
  • Palace Suite on Genting Dream

    Palace Suite

    37–40 sq mSleeps up to 4Decks 13, 15, 16 and 17

The entry point, and the one most couples book. Still larger than a Balcony Deluxe elsewhere on the ship, with the full butler service and every Palace privilege.

Deck 17 suites sit closest to the Palace pool and restaurant — ask for those if you want the shortest walk.

  • Palace Deluxe Suite on Genting Dream

    Palace Deluxe Suite

From 41 sq mSleeps up to 4Deck 15

A little more floor space than the Palace Suite for a small step in fare. Good for a couple who want room to sit rather than just sleep.

Only on Deck 15, so availability is limited on busy sailings.

  • Palace Deluxe Premium on Genting Dream

    Palace Deluxe Premium

    41–61 sq mSleeps up to 4Decks 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15

The widest spread of decks and sizes in The Palace, and a king bed rather than a queen. The most flexible category for families of four.

Sizes vary a lot inside this category — 41 sq m and 61 sq m are both sold as Deluxe Premium. We check the deck plan and tell you which one you are actually getting.

  • Palace Penthouse on Genting Dream

    Palace Penthouse

    56–115.4 sq mSleeps 4 to 6Decks 13 and 16

Separate living and sleeping areas, and enough space for two couples or a family of six. Penthouses also get a fresh flower arrangement and pressing service.

The range is wide — a 56 sq m penthouse and a 115 sq m one are very different rooms. Always ask which suite number you are being quoted.

  • Palace Villa on Genting Dream

    Palace Villa

About 224 sq mSleeps up to 6Deck 17

The largest accommodation on Genting Dream — roughly the floor area of a three-bedroom apartment, on the top deck, with its own terrace.

There are only a handful on board. For school holidays, Christmas or Chinese New Year, these go months ahead.

Palace butler service on Genting Dream

The part guests remember

What the butler actually does

"Butler service" appears on a lot of cruise brochures and means very little on most of them. On Genting Dream it is a European-trained butler assigned to your suite, on call 24 hours.

  • Meets you at the terminal and walks you past the check-in queue
  • Unpacks your luggage, presses garments and shines shoes
  • Books your spa treatments, specialty dining and shore excursions before general release
  • Serves afternoon tea, dinner, cocktails or room service inside your suite
  • Handles anything that goes wrong, so you are not queueing at Guest Services

Tell your butler your dietary needs, celebration dates and show preferences on night one. Almost everything guests wish they had asked for is easiest to arrange in the first few hours.

Honest numbers

Is The Palace worth the premium?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no — and it depends entirely on what you would have bought anyway. Palace fares move with demand and sell out earlier than the rest of the ship, so we quote live for your sailing rather than printing a number that goes stale.

What comes back to you

Several things Palace guests get free are sold separately to everyone else. On a 3-night sailing for two adults, that is roughly:

Included in The PalaceWhat others pay
Wi-Fi for the whole cruiseFrom SGD 36 for one device
Set meals at specialty restaurantsÀ la carte, per person, per venue
Happy hour wines, beers and soft drinksDrinks packages from SGD 15 per night
Free-flow juices, teas and coffeeCharged at most venues
Priority boarding and luggage deliveryNot sold — Palace only
Butler, private pool, cabanas and restaurantNot sold — Palace only

What costs more

  • Gratuities. SGD 40 per guest per night in The Palace, against SGD 27 for Interior and Oceanview — SGD 13 more per person per night.
  • The fare itself, which is the real gap and moves weekly.
  • The fuel surcharge applies the same way it does to every cabin — SGD 10 per guest per night on bookings made from 1 October 2026.

Book The Palace, or don't

We would rather lose the upgrade than have you feel oversold on board.

Worth it if

  • You were already going to buy Wi-Fi, a drinks package and specialty dining
  • It is a honeymoon, anniversary or milestone birthday and the trip is the point
  • You are travelling with four to six people and want space rather than two cabins
  • You hate queues — boarding, dining, shows and the spa all move ahead of the ship
  • You want a quiet pool; the main deck on Genting Dream is busy on sea days

Skip it if

  • You plan to eat at the included restaurants and skip the drinks package
  • It is a 2-night sailing — there is barely time to use the privileges
  • You are out on shore excursions both port days and only sleeping on board
  • Budget is the deciding factor; a Balcony Deluxe costs far less and is a good room

Palace questions

What is The Palace on Genting Dream?

The Palace is Dream Cruises' all-suite enclave on the upper decks of Genting Dream. It has its own key-card access, a 24-hour restaurant, a private pool and sun deck, cabanas and a dedicated reception, and every room inside it is a suite with a 24-hour butler.

How big are the Palace suites?

They average over 42 square metres. The Palace Suite starts at 37 sq m, Deluxe Suite and Deluxe Premium from 41 sq m, Penthouses run from 56 to 115.4 sq m, and the Palace Villa is about 224 sq m — the largest accommodation on the ship.

Is The Palace worth the extra cost?

It depends what you would otherwise buy. If you were already planning Wi-Fi, specialty dining and drinks, a good part of the premium comes back to you, and the butler, priority boarding and private pool are on top. If you mainly want a bed and plan to eat at the included restaurants, a Balcony stateroom is better value. We price both for your date so you can see the gap.

Do Palace guests pay higher gratuities?

Yes. Gratuities are SGD 40 per guest per night for Palace suites, against SGD 27 for Interior and Oceanview and SGD 33 for Balcony. They are charged to your onboard account, and waived for children under two.

Is Wi-Fi really included?

Yes — a complimentary Wi-Fi package for the whole cruise is part of the Palace benefits. Everyone else pays from about SGD 36 for one device on a 3-night sailing.

Can Palace guests use the rest of the ship?

Yes. You get everything the ship offers plus the Palace spaces. It works the other way round too: guests in standard staterooms cannot enter The Palace.

What does the butler actually do?

Meets you at check-in, handles your luggage, unpacks and presses garments, shines shoes, books your spa treatments, specialty dining and shore excursions ahead of other guests, and serves afternoon tea, dinner, cocktails or room service in your suite. They are on call 24 hours.

Is The Palace good for families?

Yes. Deluxe Premium suites and Penthouses take four to six guests, there is a kids programme for ages 2 to 12, and the private pool is far calmer than the main deck. Families of five or six should look at the Penthouse or Villa.

Is the food in The Palace halal?

Genting Dream operates as an OIC/SMIIC standard halal-friendly ship, and that applies across the vessel. The Palace Restaurant menu and any dietary requirement should be confirmed with your butler on day one so the galley can plan for it.

Can I upgrade to The Palace after booking?

Sometimes, if suites remain. Upgrades are priced at the current fare difference, not the difference you saw when you booked, so they are usually cheaper to arrange early. Ask us and we will check availability on your sailing.

How far ahead should I book a Palace suite?

Earlier than the rest of the ship. There are only a few dozen suites against 1,674 staterooms, and Villas and Penthouses go months ahead for school holidays, Christmas and Chinese New Year.

No payment, no obligation
