Genting Dream Cruise Activities 2026-27: Things to Do by Deck, Costs & Show Times

Genting Dream packs a water park, a ropes course with a 35-metre zipline, a rock climbing wall, mini-golf, a SportsPlex, a theatre, a nightclub, a casino, a spa and a kids' club into 18 decks. Almost all of the active stuff is included in your fare — you pay extra for the spa, the arcade, bowling, karaoke, the casino and the kids' club beyond two free hours a session. This guide tells you what there is to do, which deck it is on, when to go so you are not queuing, and what it costs, using the deck listings from StarDream's own 2026 cruise guide and ship brochure.

Quick answer — the five things to do first: the Waterslide Park and Kids Water Park (Decks 19 and 16), the Ropes Course and 35 m zipline (Decks 17 and 18 aft), a production show at the Zodiac Theatre (Deck 7 forward), a Zouk Beach Club deck party (Deck 17 aft), and a meal at The Lido buffet, which has halal and Indian sections (Deck 16 aft). All five are included in your cruise fare.

What is free and what costs extra

This is the first thing guests ask us, and getting it wrong is what ruins a budget.

Gratuities are SGD 27 per guest per night for Interior and Oceanview cabins, SGD 33 for Balcony and SGD 40 for Palace suites, waived for children under two. A fuel surcharge of SGD 10 per guest per night applies to bookings made from 1 October 2026.

Where everything is: the deck cheat sheet

Screenshot this table. It saves more time than any other tip in this guide, because Genting Dream is 335 m long and the lifts are slow at peak times.

Decks 9 to 13 and 15 are mostly staterooms. The helipad is on Deck 9, and the Bridge Viewing Room on Deck 15 is the one venue almost nobody finds — you can watch the officers work the ship from behind glass, and it is free.

The things worth doing, in the order we would do them

1. Waterslide Park and the pools (Decks 19 and 16)

Six slides, from gentle spirals to a steep drop slide, sit at the top of the ship. Below them on Deck 16 are the Main Pool, the jacuzzis and a separate Kids Water Park for smaller children. Proper swim attire is required, which the official guide states plainly — board shorts over swim trunks are fine, cotton t-shirts are not.

When to go: straight after breakfast, or after 4pm. The queue peaks between 11am and 2pm on a sea day, and the slides close in lightning or heavy wind.

2. Ropes Course and the 35-metre zipline (Decks 17 and 18 aft)

The signature activity: a rope course strung above the deck, ending in a zipline that carries you out over the side of the ship. Sneakers or closed-toe shoes are required — the official packing list says so, and crew will turn you away in sandals. Expect a harness check and a short briefing. Height and weight limits are posted at the entrance.

When to go: the first clear morning of your cruise. It is the first thing to close when the wind gets up, and on a 2-night sailing there is no second chance.

3. Rock Climbing Wall, Mini-Golf and SportsPlex (Decks 18 and 19)

The climbing wall has routes for beginners and for people who actually climb. Mini-golf sits next to it, and the SportsPlex on Deck 19 runs basketball and pickleball. All three are included, all three are quietest in the first hour after they open, and all three are outdoors, so they follow the weather.

4. A production show at the Zodiac Theatre (Deck 7 forward)

The theatre is the heart of the evening. Since 5 June 2026 the headline production has been Forever Broadway, created with Broadway Asia International for Dream Cruises' tenth anniversary, with an international cast and a fashion-runway segment featuring Singaporean designers. On other nights you get variety bills — acrobatics, magic, dance and guest acts.

Practical: shows are included and seating is first come, first served unless you are a Palace or Balcony Class guest with reserved seating. Arrive 15 minutes early for a central seat. On a 2-night sailing you will usually catch one production show; on 3 nights, two.

5. Zouk, Zouk Beach Club and the deck parties (Deck 17 aft)

Zouk at sea is the same brand as the Singapore club, with guest DJs, and the open-air Zouk Beach Club next to it hosts the foam and deck parties that families end up enjoying as much as the twenty-somethings. Themed nights change by sailing — check the daily programme on boarding day so you can dress for it. There is also a Zouk Private Party Deck on Deck 18 for group bookings.

6. Glow Bowl, billiards and the arcade (Decks 17, 16 and 6)

Glow Bowl on Deck 17 runs neon-lit night bowling beside the club, with pool tables alongside and a bar in reach. The arcade on Deck 16 forward (with a second area on Deck 6) is where teenagers disappear for hours. All three are charged: bowling and billiards per game, arcade per play. Set the children a budget before you hand over the cruise card.

7. Karaoke rooms (Deck 6 forward)

Private KTV rooms with a large multilingual song list, booked by the hour. This is the most popular activity on board with multi-generational family groups, and rooms on a Saturday night go early — book it at Reception on Deck 6 as soon as you board.

8. The Spa, The Salon and The Gym (Deck 15 forward)

Massages, facials and salon services are all charged. The Gym is free, and there is a jogging track on Deck 17 for anyone who would rather run with an ocean view. Book treatments for a port morning — the spa is at its emptiest when most guests are ashore, and StarDream Rewards members from Silver upwards get advance reservations for spa, salon and fitness services.

9. The casino (Decks 6, 7 and 8, with a VIP room on Deck 16)

Slots, roulette, blackjack and baccarat across three decks, plus a VIP room on Deck 16. It opens once the ship is at sea, so it stays shut alongside in port. Adults only — the minimum age is posted at the entrance and ID is checked. Table minimums are considerably higher than the slots, so start there if you are only curious.

10. Bars, lounges and the quiet corners

• Bar City (Deck 8) — live bands and performances, wines and whiskies. The default evening venue.
• Bar 360 (Deck 6) — the atrium bar, with music and performances overhead.
• Tributes (Deck 8) — live music lounge.
• Red Lion (Deck 7) — English-style pub, good for sport and a quieter pint.
• Palm Court (Deck 19) — top-deck lounge with the best sea views on the ship, and the calmest place to read.
• Sun Deck Bar (Deck 17) and Pool Deck Bar (Deck 16) — daytime drinks by the water.
• The Oasis (Deck 15) — healthy meals and drinks beside the spa.

Drinks are charged unless you buy a package: Treat at SGD 15 a night (non-alcoholic, all ages), Deluxe at SGD 75 (18+) and Elite at SGD 100 (18+).

A sea day that actually works

This is the plan we give guests on a 2-night weekend sailing, where you have one full day and everyone wants to do everything.

On a 3-night sailing with a port day, swap the morning block for the shore day and do the deck activities on the sea day instead. Our 2-night vs 3-night comparison sets out how much you actually fit into each.

Families: what works at each age

Two things parents tell us afterwards. First, register at the Little Dreamers Club on boarding day, because session slots fill on school-holiday sailings. Second, the two free hours are per session, not per day, so you can use them more than once if the programme allows.

Eating between activities

Four venues are included in your fare: The Lido buffet on Deck 16 aft, which the official brochure lists as having halal options alongside international, vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian dishes; Dream Dining Room Upper (Deck 8) and Lower (Deck 7); and Function 8 on Deck 5.

Paid venues are clustered on Decks 6 to 8: Umi Uma for Japanese and teppanyaki, Hot Pot, Silk Road for Chinese fine dining, Bistro, Chef's Table, the Gelateria, Blue Lagoon and the Lobby Cafe. If you are in The Palace

Palace guests get their own enclave on Decks 17 and 18: a private restaurant, lounge, pool and sun deck, spa and gymnasium, plus a 24-hour butler, a VIP terminal lounge, priority boarding, a standard Wi-Fi package, priority access to live production shows, an exclusive kids' programme for ages 2 to 12, and 10% off in-house retail and spa packages. Practically, it changes two things about your day: you skip the theatre queue, and you can use a pool that nobody else can reach. Suite grades are on our Palace page.

StarDream Rewards: worth joining before you sail

Membership is free and you earn 1 Rewards Point for every SGD 1 of onboard credit, which offsets future spending. Tiers run Classic (free), Silver (SGD 15 tier points), Gold (SGD 150) and Platinum (SGD 1,100). From Silver upwards you get advance reservations for spa, salon and fitness services; higher tiers add complimentary spa access and treatments, priority bill settlement and a priority lane at selected food and beverage outlets. What to pack for the activities

Straight from the official packing list, plus what our guests say they wished they had brought:

• Sneakers or closed-toe shoes — mandatory for the rock wall and zipline.
• Proper swim attire — required for the pools and slides.
• Glamorous attire for The Red Carpet, the dress-up event on cruises of three nights and above.
• Sunscreen and a hat for the top decks, and a light layer for the theatre and restaurants.
• Cash in Singapore dollars and a card — your onboard account is in SGD.
• Passport valid at least six months, plus your work permit, pass or re-entry permit if you hold one.

Leave at home: anything with a heating element (irons, kettles, coffee machines with hot plates), aerosols and compressed gas, drones, hoverboards and scooters, lasers, weapons of any kind, and illegal drugs. Hand luggage for guests departing Singapore is limited to 55 × 40 × 23 cm and 9 kg; anything larger goes in checked baggage.

What the paid activities cost

Five mistakes that cost people a day

• Saving the zipline for the last morning. Wind closes it, and there is no rain check.
• Eating at 12:30 and 6:30. The Lido is at its worst then. Shift half an hour either way or use a dining room.
• Not reading the daily programme. Theatre times, foam parties and kids' sessions move by sailing; the app and the printed programme are the only reliable schedule.
• Wearing sandals to the ropes course. It is the single most common turn-away.
• Leaving karaoke and spa bookings until day two. Both are booked out by then on a full sailing.

Is there enough to do?

In our 2026 guest survey, 5,927 travellers who booked Genting Dream through us scored onboard facilities at 86% and entertainment at 90%, with an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5. The complaints that do come in are consistent: the buffet at peak hours, deck activities closing in bad weather, and arcade spending adding up. None of those are about there being too little to do.
