What a 2-night cruise from Singapore actually is

Two nights on board, one full day in between. You board in the evening, wake up either at sea or alongside in Malaysia, and you are back in Singapore before Sunday lunch. It is the cheapest cruise anyone sells from Singapore and the easiest way to try cruising without burning annual leave.

Three ships run them: Genting Dream, Star Voyager and, on a handful of dates, Navigator of the Seas. Disney Adventure does not — three nights is her shortest.

The decision that matters is not the ship. It is whether you want a port day or a full day at sea, because that changes the holiday completely.

A full day at sea

Weekend getaway sailings never dock. You get the pools, slides, shows and restaurants with no queue for immigration and no shore excursion to book.

Pick this if you want to switch off, or it is your first cruise and you just want to see what a ship is like.

One day ashore

Melaka, Port Klang for Kuala Lumpur, or Pulau Pangkor. You are alongside for most of the day, then back on board for dinner.

How a Friday-night sailing actually runs

Two nights is short enough that the timings matter. This is the sequence for a typical weekend departure.

  1. 48 hours before

    Online check-in closes

    Mandatory on all three ships, and it shuts two days before departure. Do it as soon as your booking is confirmed — it is the single most common thing guests forget.

  2. Friday, 4–6pm

    Get to the right terminal

    Marina Bay Cruise Centre for Genting Dream and Navigator, HarbourFront for Star Voyager. They are on opposite sides of the city. Arrive in your assigned window, not earlier — food is not allowed in the waiting area.

  3. Friday, about 8pm

    Sail away

    Dinner is usually served from boarding onwards, so eat on board rather than rushing a meal beforehand. Book any specialty restaurant or show for Saturday on night one.

  4. Saturday

    Your one full day

    At sea, or alongside in Melaka, Port Klang or Pangkor. On a port day, be back on board at least an hour before the posted all-aboard time — the ship does not wait.

  5. Sunday, 12–2pm

    Home

    Disembarkation is usually by midday. Clear your onboard account the night before to skip the queue at reception.

Pack and bring

  • Passport valid six months beyond the sailing date, for every guest including children
  • Your Singapore pass if you are a Work Permit, EP, LTVP, Student or Dependant Pass holder
  • Cabin bag within 55 × 40 × 23 cm and 9 kg if you are carrying it on
  • Swimwear and closed-toe shoes for the slides, rock wall and zipline
  • Something smarter for the one dressy evening — two nights means one

Leave at home

  • Irons, kettles, heaters and anything with a heating element
  • Drones, hoverboards and large spare batteries
  • Alcohol brought from shore, and e-cigarettes on StarDream ships
  • Food to eat in the terminal waiting area — finish it before security

Coming back into Singapore, everyone submits the SG Arrival Card online, up to three days before arrival — including on a cruise that never docked anywhere.

Book 2 nights if

  • It is your first cruise and you want to test whether you like it
  • You cannot take leave — Friday evening to Sunday lunch costs you no working days
  • You are travelling with a toddler or an elderly parent and want a short first trip
  • Budget is the deciding factor; this is the cheapest cruise sold from Singapore
  • You want a quick birthday, anniversary or group weekend on the water

Book 3 nights instead if

  • You want a proper day ashore in Penang or Phuket — two nights cannot reach them
  • You want to try more than one specialty restaurant or see the full show line-up
  • You are flying in from India, Malaysia or elsewhere — the extra night makes the airfare worth it
  • You want a sea day and a port day rather than choosing between them

Most guests flying in do not book the cruise alone. A two-night sailing slots neatly into a five or six-day Singapore holiday: a couple of city days, the cruise over the weekend, then a last day for Sentosa or shopping.

Which ships run 2-night cruises from Singapore?

Genting Dream and Star Voyager run them regularly, and Navigator of the Seas adds a few each season. Disney Adventure does not — her shortest sailing is three nights. Between them there are 77 two-night departures still open.

How much does a 2-night cruise from Singapore cost?

Genting Dream 2-night sailings typically start near SGD 299 per person twin-share in an Interior stateroom. Star Voyager is usually the cheapest and Navigator of the Seas the priciest. On top of the fare you pay gratuities of SGD 27 to 40 per guest per night, port charges, and on Genting Dream a SGD 10 per guest per night fuel surcharge for bookings made from 1 October 2026.

What is the difference between a weekend getaway and a Melaka or Kuala Lumpur cruise?

A weekend getaway stays at sea for the whole middle day — no passport queue, no shore excursion, just the ship. A Melaka, Port Klang or Pangkor sailing gives you a full day ashore instead. Same two nights, completely different holidays.

Do I need a passport for a 2-night cruise with no port call?

Yes. Every guest needs a passport valid at least six months from the sailing date, including Singapore citizens and children, even when the ship never docks anywhere.

Which terminal do 2-night cruises leave from?

Genting Dream and Navigator of the Seas sail from Marina Bay Cruise Centre, 61 Marina Coastal Drive. Star Voyager usually sails from Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront, 5 Harbourfront Avenue — a completely different place. Always check the terminal printed on your ticket.

Can I board straight after work on Friday?

On the Friday weekend sailings, yes. Genting Dream and Star Voyager both depart Singapore around 8:00pm, and check-in closes well before that, so aim to be at the terminal by early evening. Online check-in closes 48 hours before departure, so do that earlier in the week.

Is 2 nights long enough for a first cruise?

It is the best way to try one. You get a full sea day, one or two theatre shows, the pools and slides, and you are home by Sunday afternoon. If you want a proper day ashore in Penang or Phuket, three nights is the better buy.

Are 2-night cruises good for families with young children?

Yes, and they are the easiest cruise to attempt with a toddler — short enough that a bad night does not ruin the trip. All three ships run kids clubs from age two or three, included in the fare.

How far ahead should I book?

Two-night sailings are the cheapest cruises from Singapore, so they sell out first during school holidays, long weekends, Deepavali, Christmas and Chinese New Year. Outside those, four to six weeks ahead is usually enough.

Can guests from India or Malaysia book a 2-night cruise?

Yes. We are an Indian travel company with a ground team in Singapore, so Indian guests get the cruise, hotels and transfers on one INR invoice with GST plus visa guidance. Malaysian guests can often board at Port Klang or Melaka instead of flying to Singapore.
