Royal Caribbean's Ovation of the Seas is a floating playground packed with activities and entertainment for families, couples, and seniors alike. Whether you’re chasing thrills or looking for relaxing fun, this guide covers all the Ovation of the Seas activities on board - from adrenaline-pumping attractions to world-class shows.
We'll detail age-appropriate suggestions (kids, teens, adults), note which activities are free vs. paid, provide tips on booking and timing, and highlight what’s available during Ovation’s Singapore 2025-2026 season. Read on to discover the top things to do on Ovation of the Seas and how to make the most of every day at sea.
Thrill & Adventure Attractions at Sea
For adventure seekers, Ovation of the Seas offers some of the most impressive onboard attractions in Royal Caribbean’s fleet. These headline activities are great for teens and active adults (and even daring seniors!), with many of them complimentary to enjoy.
North Star - Panoramic Views from 300 Feet Up (Couples’ Favorite)

One of Ovation’s signature experiences is the North Star℠, a glass observation capsule that gently rises over 300 feet above sea level to give 360° views of the ship and ocean. It holds the Guinness World Record as the tallest viewing deck on a cruise ship. This is a must-do for couples - imagine a romantic ride at sunset with sweeping sea and skyline views - but it’s equally jaw-dropping for families and all ages.
- Cost: Rides on North Star are included (complimentary) for all guests. (Special sunrise/sunset “premium” rides may incur a fee of around $20, but standard sessions are free.)
- Booking: Reserve your North Star time slot via the Royal Caribbean app or Cruise Planner as soon as you board. On port days, rides are often first-come first-serve and can be easier to snag.
- Tip: Try riding multiple times at different hours - the view on a bright day vs. starry night can feel like a whole new experience. The capsule moves slowly and is very stable, so seniors and kids can enjoy it without fear.
RipCord® by iFly® - Skydiving Simulator (Teen & Adult Thrill)

Ever wanted to skydive without jumping from a plane? The RipCord by iFly lets you do just that in a safe skydiving simulator on the top deck. Step into a wind tunnel where you float on air for an exhilarating free-fall feeling.
- Who Can Fly: Open to guests 3 years and older (yes, even kids can try!). Participants must also meet weight limits (around 230 lbs/104 kg for those under 6’ tall, a bit higher for taller).
- Cost: Included (one short flight per guest is complimentary). Additional or longer sessions may be offered for ~$30-$50 depending on demand. On sea days, extended sessions often cost around $29, while often a shorter ride is free on port days.
- Booking: Reservations are required - spots are limited, so book through the app or onboard at the kiosk early in your cruise. Sessions typically operate in blocks (for example, 8-10 am and 4-9 pm on sea days).
- Experience: After a brief training and gear-up (jumpsuit, helmet, goggles provided), you’ll get a 1-minute flight with an instructor guiding you. It may sound short, but the adrenaline rush is incredible and feels surprisingly like real skydiving. Spectators can watch and snap photos from outside the wind tunnel - a great show in itself!
FlowRider® Surf Simulator - Surf’s Up (Family Fun)

The FlowRider® is a 40-foot-long surf simulator that pumps 30,000 gallons of water for a continuous wave. It’s perfect for active teens and adults - and even adventurous kids (there are boogie board options for younger ones).
- Cost: Free - unlimited rides are included in your cruise fare. Just hop in line during open hours.
- Hours: Typically open daily in good weather. Times vary (usually several sessions between morning and late afternoon). Check the Cruise Compass schedule.
- Requirements: Height requirement ~1.32 m (52″) for stand-up surfing, lower (around 1.1 m / 42″) for bodyboarding. All riders must sign a waiver (get a wristband from the sports desk).
- Tips: Wear swimwear that stays secure (the water is powerful!). Wipeouts are common but part of the fun. Instructors give safety briefings and can offer pointers. For those really into surfing, the ship offers group lessons or private FlowRider sessions for a fee, but casual riders will enjoy the free sessions. Families can cheer each other on - and younger kids love watching mom or dad splash out!
Rock Climbing Wall - Reach New Heights (Included)

Ovation’s towering rock climbing wall (40 feet tall) is another signature attraction open to anyone brave enough to climb. This activity is great for kids, teens, and adults - no experience needed.
- Cost: Free and included; no reservation required.
- Details: There are multiple routes from beginner to advanced. Climbing sessions are typically scheduled for blocks of a couple hours at a time (often morning or late afternoon - check daily program).
- Gear: Provided on deck (harness, helmets, shoes). Just wear comfortable athletic clothes.
- Tip: It’s best to climb when the wall is in shade (usually earlier or later in the day) for comfort. Long lines can form, so go early in the session. Parents and kids can cheer each other on - it’s a fun family-bonding challenge.
These thrill attractions ensure that sea days are never boring. From free-fall simulations to panoramic pods, Ovation of the Seas delivers high-tech fun that’s mostly complimentary - just be sure to reserve or line up early for the popular ones.
SeaPlex® - Indoor Fun Zone for Kids & Teens (and Young-at-Heart Adults!)
For families and especially teens and tweens, the SeaPlex is the ultimate hangout. This is the largest indoor activity complex at sea, and it offers a bit of everything - often free of charge - in a climate-controlled two-level venue. Here’s what you’ll find:

- Bumper Cars: Yes, Ovation has bumper cars at sea! The SeaPlex transforms into a full bumper car arena, usually available on select afternoons. It’s free, open to guests aged 5 and older (min. height ~42″/106 cm). Tip: Lines can get long. Smart cruisers queue up ~20 minutes early to be first when it opens. Each ride is a few minutes of laugh-inducing fun as you bump and spin around. (Parents can ride with younger kids, and suites guests sometimes get a priority line, though all guests get ample turns.)
- Basketball & Sports: A full-size basketball court sits at the heart of SeaPlex. Join in pick-up basketball, soccer, volleyball, and dodgeball games scheduled throughout the cruise. Teens and adults often form impromptu games - a great way to meet fellow cruisers. Equipment is provided free (just show up in sneakers).
- Roller Skating: At times the court converts to a retro roller skating rink! The ship provides roller skates and safety gear (wrist/knee/elbow pads and helmets are required for all ages). Sessions usually run ~30 minutes at a time. You’ll need socks and a signed waiver. It’s a blast from the past for parents and a novelty for kids. Note: Children under 6 must have a parent on the rink (parents can walk alongside in sneakers).
- Trapeze School: Ever fancied the circus? Ovation offers a circus school trapeze where you can swing on a flying trapeze, held safely over an air mat. This is typically scheduled at specific times and requires age 6+. It’s an included activity - just sign the waiver and show up early to get a spot.
- Xbox & Electronic Games: Around the mezzanine level of SeaPlex, you’ll find “SeaPods” - little gaming lounges with Xbox consoles for playing video games, as well as areas for ping-pong, foosball, and air hockey. Tip: The video games are free to play, but air hockey and some arcade-style games nearby cost extra per game.
- Arcade: Adjacent to SeaPlex is the Challenger’s Arcade. This is a traditional arcade with coin-operated games (loaded via your SeaPass card). It’s pay-per-play (typically a few dollars per game). You can buy an arcade package or a set amount for kids. Just be aware that any spending beyond a prepaid arcade credit will charge to your account automatically.
Why SeaPlex is a Teen Magnet: This space is a dream for teens - they can play sports, drive bumper cars, or just chill with video games and music under the LED lights. It’s also supervised by cruise staff during major activities, so parents can feel comfortable letting older kids hang out. On some evenings, SeaPlex even hosts dance parties or teen socials on the basketball court (which doubles as a nightclub space with a DJ). The flexibility and range of free activities make SeaPlex a huge hit for families looking to keep kids entertained.
Scheduling: SeaPlex activities rotate throughout the day. You might see bumper cars offered every other day, roller skating on port-day afternoons, etc. Check the daily Cruise Compass and arrive a bit early for limited-time events. And don’t forget to sign digital waivers (often you can do this on the cabin TV or app for all activities in one go) to save time.
Pools, Splash Parks & Outdoor Activities (For All Ages)

What’s a cruise without poolside fun? Ovation of the Seas offers multiple pools and water experiences catering to each age group:

- Main Pools: The ship has both an outdoor pool and a covered indoor pool with a retractable roof. The indoor pool allows swimming rain or shine, which is perfect for the tropical rains in Singapore or the chilly air in Alaska. Both pools have hot tubs nearby and plenty of lounge chairs. They’re family-friendly (kids are welcome with supervision). Activities like pool games or even poolside movies are hosted some days. Hours: Generally, 8am-10pm for pools and 8am-midnight for hot tubs.
- Splashaway Bay℠: This is a dedicated kids’ water park on Ovation. Splashaway Bay features colorful mini waterslides, water cannons, fountains, geysers, and a giant drench bucket that soaks everyone periodically. It’s designed for toddlers, kids, and tweens - essentially anyone potty trained up to about age 12. Little ones will spend hours here on the tiny slides and spray zones. There’s a height requirement (~42″) for the bigger kid slides. Parents can relax on loungers nearby (and should supervise young kids). Cost: Free, of course.
- Whirlpools: Near the pools (and in the Solarium) are whirlpool hot tubs. Kids are allowed in the main pool hot tubs with adult supervision (though small children might find them too hot). It’s a nice way to soothe muscles after an active day.
- Deck Games: On the outer decks you’ll find casual fun like table tennis, and often staff-led contests like bean bag toss or mini-golf challenges (Quantum-class ships don’t have a mini-golf course, but they sometimes set up putting challenges). There’s also a running track on Deck 15 if you fancy a morning jog with a view of the sea.
- RipCord and North Star (Outdoor areas): Already covered in Thrill section, but note these are on the top decks, so weather can affect scheduling.
For families, the pools and Splashaway Bay are a daytime favorite - kids splash while parents sunbathe. Meanwhile, seniors and adults not keen on water slides will appreciate the comfortable deck chairs and the Solarium (detailed next). Lifeguards are on duty at pools during posted hours for safety.
Solarium - Adults-Only Oasis (Perfect for Couples & Seniors)

When you need a tranquil escape from the bustle, head to the Solarium at the front of the ship. This is an adults-only (18+) pool area that’s like a serene paradise under glass.
The Solarium is climate-controlled and surrounded by glass, with cascading shallow pools and whirlpools, lush greenery and artwork, and a bar nearby. It’s designed for relaxation: no kids, no noise - just soft lounge music and the sound of trickling water. Couples love to relax here, and it’s a favorite spot for many seniors to read or chat in peace.
- Features: Tiered pools (more for dipping and wading than swimming), warm whirlpools, padded loungers and daybeds (some two-seaters perfect for couples), and beautiful panoramic views forward over the bow. The glass roof means it’s usable in any weather - enjoy shade and AC in hot climates or stay warm when cruising cooler regions.
- Tip: Try the Solarium in early morning for a quiet coffee with a view, or in the evening for a soak in the hot tub under the stars (it’s open late). If you have sore muscles from an excursion, the heated whirlpool jets here will work wonders.
- Cost: Free to use, of course. The Solarium also has its own bar and a nearby cafe (Solarium Bistro) if you want a healthy snack or drink.

For any adults seeking downtime - be it grandparents needing a rest or couples on a romantic getaway - the Solarium is a slice of heaven at sea. It truly lets you “get away” while still on the ship.
Spectacular Shows & Live Entertainment (Family-Friendly Evenings)
When the sun sets, Ovation of the Seas comes alive with Broadway-style productions, live music, and dazzling high-tech shows. The ship features multiple venues and entertainment options to suit all tastes - and all shows are included in your fare (no tickets to buy, though reservations may be needed for some). Here’s a look at the onboard shows and nightlife:
Broadway-Style Production Shows (Royal Theater)

The main Royal Theater (decks 4-5 forward) seats about 1,300 guests and hosts the big production shows. Ovation’s featured original productions include:
- Live. Love. Legs. - A high-energy, Las Vegas-style song-and-dance spectacular. Expect aerial acrobatics, extravagant costumes, and impressive choreography in this unforgettable show. It’s a feast for the eyes and ears, sure to have you clapping along.
- The Beautiful Dream - (On some sailings) A heartwarming musical story about a man rediscovering love and life, featuring fantastic special effects like a fire-breathing dragon and a steam train on stage. (Note: Show offerings can rotate; this was an Ovation original debut, but check your cruise compass for current lineup.)
- Other nights may feature guest entertainers: magicians, comedians, live musicians, or tribute bands. Each evening usually has something going on in the main theater.
Showtimes: The big shows are typically performed twice nightly (around 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm) to accommodate early or late dinner seatings. No tickets are required for the main theater shows - seating is first-come, free seating. Tip: Arrive 10-15 minutes early for good seats (the later show often has a bit more space if you prefer a quieter crowd).
These production shows are family-friendly - kids will be amazed by the costumes and acrobats, and grandparents will enjoy the music and talent. It’s a great way for the whole family to spend an evening together. And yes, the shows are completely free - just show up and enjoy.
Two70® High-Tech Shows (Spectra’s Cabaret / Pixels)

At the aft of the ship on decks 5-6 is Two70 - a transformative entertainment space that is a must-see. In the daytime, Two70 is a comfy lounge with 270° ocean views; at night, it converts into a cutting-edge theater with floor-to-ceiling screens and robotic performers. Ovation’s Two70 features a signature show (often titled “Pixels” or “Spectra’s Cabaret” depending on the ship’s program) that blends live performance with incredible tech effects:
- Pixels Cabaret / Spectra’s Cabaret: A multimedia show that celebrates technology, music, and dance. Six robo-screens move in sync with performers, projecting stunning visuals across a 100-foot wide backdrop. It’s unlike any traditional show - expect digital art, aerialists, and a pulsing soundtrack. It’s often described as “otherworldly” and leaves the audience wowed by the innovation.
- Showtimes & Reservations: Two70 shows typically run on select nights with two showtimes (e.g. 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm). Reservations are required because the venue holds ~400 guests. You can reserve on the app or at guest services. If you didn’t get a reservation, you might still get in via standby if space permits, but it’s popular so try to book early.
- Seating Tip: Arrive 30 minutes early for the best view - try to get seats on the upper level or towards the middle for a full perspective of the effects.
The Two70 productions are complimentary (included in fare). They’re suitable for all ages, though very young kids might be more restless as it’s a visually complex show (or possibly a bit loud). Families often love it for the novelty - teens, especially, find the tech aspect super cool. Don’t miss at least one Two70 show; it’s a signature Royal Caribbean experience.
Live Music and Dancing Venues

Beyond the big shows, Ovation has a vibrant nightlife with live music and themed parties that adults and even teens will enjoy:

- Music Hall: A two-story rock club that features live bands and tribute acts. One night you might find a ’70s rock n’ roll band, another night a Latin salsa band or even a Beatles tribute. There’s a dance floor that often gets packed as the night goes on. Karaoke and even “rockaoke” (karaoke with a live rock band backup) happen here too. Age: All ages can attend performances, but later at night it becomes mostly an adult crowd. Teens do pop in especially for all-ages events like teen karaoke. Cost: Free entry, of course; drinks available at the bar. Tip: It can get crowded - arrive early for a seat if a popular band is playing.
- Boleros: A Latin-themed lounge with live Latin music (salsa, merengue) in the evenings. Great for couples who enjoy dancing - there’s a small dance floor for salsa. The vibe is classy yet fun, with signature mojitos and cocktails available. Often popular with the older crowd who enjoy ballroom or latin dancing.
- Schooner Bar: The classic piano bar on Royal Caribbean ships. In the evenings, a pianist or guitarist will play and sing, sometimes sparking a sing-along with classics. It’s more low-key; perfect for seniors or couples wanting a relaxed drink with music.
- Bionic Bar: While not “live” entertainment, the robotic bartenders here are a spectacle worth seeing. Order a cocktail from a tablet and watch robots shake them up. It’s a fun stop before or after a show - and teens love watching (or ordering nonalcoholic mocktails). Cost: Drinks cost extra, but watching is free! It’s a popular spot to take videos of the robots in action.
- Casino Royale: For those who like to play, the casino on Deck 3 offers slots and table games nightly. It’s one of the biggest casinos in the fleet, especially tailored for the Asian market with lots of slot machines. Smoking is allowed in a section (when the ship sails in Asia), so be aware. The casino is open to adults 18+ and has everything from poker to roulette. It’s a common gathering spot for many seniors who enjoy a flutter, as well as adults feeling lucky.
- Theme Parties & Nightlife: Ovation often hosts fun theme parties such as a ’70s Disco Night or a Silent Disco in Two70. Silent Disco is particularly a hit: you wear headphones and dance to DJ music only you can hear - onlookers see a silent room full of dancing people! It usually happens once per cruise and is suitable for all ages (kids, teens, adults all have fun with it). Other events include outdoor movie nights on the pool deck, game shows and trivia contests for families, and maybe even guest lecture presentations on longer cruises.
Good to know: All the shows and live music events are included with your cruise (no extra charge). Drinks at bars and the casino games cost extra, of course. But you can enjoy comedy shows, dance parties, live bands, and more without spending a cent. Families can attend many of these together (just mind the late-night hour for little ones).
During the Singapore 2025-2026 season, you can expect the full entertainment lineup on Ovation of the Seas. The ship will likely tailor some events to the local crowd (perhaps a Bollywood music hour or regional live music in addition to usual offerings), but the core shows like the Broadway-style productions and Two70 tech shows will definitely be running on those sailings. Show schedules will be announced in your onboard planner, and it’s wise to reserve the main shows early in your cruise if possible, since the Singapore sailings (3-5 nights) are short and action-packed.
Kids & Teens Clubs: Adventure Ocean & More
Ovation of the Seas is extremely family-friendly, with dedicated programs for children and teens so that parents and grandparents can relax knowing the young ones are having a blast in safe hands.
Adventure Ocean® Youth Program

Spread over Decks 11-12 is the kids’ club complex, which is divided by age group:
- Royal Babies & Tots (6 months - 3 years): A nursery where trained staff can care for infants and toddlers at set times (hourly fee for nursery care typically). Parents can also use the playroom with their littlest ones during open play sessions.
- Aquanauts (3-5 years), Explorers (6-8 years), Voyagers (9-11 years): These age-specific groups have their own rooms and schedules of crafts, games, science experiments, themed parties, and more. Adventure Ocean is free until 10 pm each day (late-night group babysitting is available after 10 pm at an hourly cost if needed). Kids can be signed in to the club in the morning, afternoon, and evening as you wish - the staff entertains them with fun activities so adults can enjoy other ship amenities.
- Adventure Ocean Highlights: Kids often never want to leave! There might be pirate night parties, face painting, talent shows, scavenger hunts, and even science lab projects. On port days, you can leave children (ages 3-11) onboard in Adventure Ocean while you go on excursions - they will even take the kids to lunch if it’s over the lunch hour (no extra charge for this service).
- Parents of kids 8 and under must sign them in/out each time; older kids (9-11) can be given the privilege to sign themselves out with permission.
- Teens (Ages 12-17): Teens have their own cool hangout, often called The Living Room or Social180 (name can vary by ship - check your deck plan). It’s a lounge just for teens with comfy couches, video games, music, and space to chill. There’s also a teen-only disco party at night in a designated spot (sometimes in the Music Hall or SeaPlex). The youth team organizes teen activities like pool games, sports competitions, themed teen dinners, and karaoke just for this age group. Teens have a lot of freedom - they can come and go from their club as they please. It’s a great way for older kids to make new friends on the cruise. Many teens report that the friends they made on board and the independence they had was the highlight of their trip.
- Adventure Ocean Operating Hours: Typically 9am-12pm, 2pm-5pm, 7pm-10pm daily for the scheduled sessions, with “Late Night Party Zone” from 10pm-1am (for a fee) if you need babysitting. Exact times may vary and are listed in the Cruise Compass. On port days, morning sessions begin early to accommodate excursion departures, and there’s usually a special Adventure Dining program where staff will pick kids up from the dining room after they finish eating so parents can continue dinner in peace.
- Cost: The youth programs are free except for after-hours care and the under-3 nursery service.
Why Parents & Grandparents Love This: The kids’ club gives youngsters a safe place to have their own fun (beyond the pools and arcade), and lets adults enjoy some grown-up time knowing the kids are supervised. Many families coordinate their schedules - for example, kids go to Adventure Ocean in the evening while the parents catch the 9pm show or enjoy a quiet dinner, then everyone meets up for dessert or a late-night movie. Teens get to mingle with peers instead of feeling stuck with the family 24/7, which can make multi-generational travel much smoother.
Note: During the Singapore season, all Adventure Ocean services will be available, and often there will be many kids on these sailings (especially during school holidays). The staff might even include some bilingual crew to assist, given the diverse mix of guests in Asia. Be sure to register your kids on Day 1 at the Adventure Ocean open house so they can join in from the start.
Ovation of the Seas in Singapore 2025-2026: What to Expect
Ovation of the Seas will be homeporting in Singapore from October 2025 to March 2026, offering 3- to 8-night cruises around Southeast Asia. The ship’s deployment in Asia doesn’t change its onboard offerings - you’ll still enjoy all the activities and shows described above during the Singapore season. In fact, Royal Caribbean emphasized that Ovation is “a ship packed full of adventure” perfect for the new holiday cruises from Singapore.

Guests boarding in Singapore can look forward to all the innovative attractions (North Star, iFly, FlowRider, etc.), a full schedule of entertainment, and of course world-class dining and service. The daily language of the ship’s activities will be in English (with likely some announcements in Mandarin given the mixed guest demographics in Asia). One perk of sailing from Singapore: weather is generally warm year-round, so the outdoor activities like the FlowRider and pools will be in full swing every cruise (no winter closures). Do keep in mind it can be humid or rainy - but thanks to Ovation’s indoor spaces (SeaPlex, indoor pool, Two70, Solarium), there’s plenty to do regardless of rain or shine.
If you’re planning a cruise on Ovation’s Singapore season, rest assured all these wonderful onboard experiences are available to you. It’s a chance for local cruisers to enjoy a Quantum-class ship close to home, with all the latest and greatest attractions. The combination of Asian destination exploration by day and incredible onboard activities by night makes these cruises truly special.
Pro Tips for Singapore Sailings:
- Many Asian cruise guests love karaoke, shopping, and casino, so expect those to be popular. If a show or activity isn’t your thing, you might find certain venues (like Solarium or even North Star during dining hours) pleasantly uncrowded.
- Book things like North Star and iFly as soon as online check-in opens or on Day 1. Short cruises mean less chances if you miss it once.
- Try the local flavors onboard - the Windjammer buffet might have some Asian dishes alongside the usual fare, and sometimes special events like a durian tasting or mahjong lessons occur on Asia sailings.
- The itineraries from Singapore are port-intensive (Penang, Phuket, etc.), but plan some downtime onboard too - especially on shorter cruises, it’s worth skipping a port afternoon or waking up early on a sea day to take advantage of the awesome ship with fewer people around.
Now that you know what to do on Ovation of the Seas, you’re ready for an unforgettable cruise!
