Genting Dream Cruise Dates for Singapore School Holidays (2026-27)

Two things decide whether a school-holiday cruise works: the sailing has to fall inside the break, and it has to come back before term restarts. Get one of those wrong and you are writing a leave-of-absence letter.

So this guide does the matching for you. Every Genting Dream sailing from Singapore that falls inside a MOE school holiday, with the exact departure and return, and how many school days each one actually costs. MOE dates are official; sailing dates come from the current StarDream Cruises Singapore schedule.

Checked 28 September 2026 against MOE's published calendar and schedule version V7.

Book before 1 October 2026 if you can. A fuel surcharge of SGD 10 per guest, per night applies to new bookings made on or after that date. It goes on your onboard account, not the advertised fare. On a 3-night sailing for a family of four that is SGD 120 extra. This comes from booking terms published on partner platforms in September 2026 — ask us to confirm it in writing when you book.

Short answer: what is actually bookable right now

Year-end break 2026 (Sat 21 Nov – Thu 31 Dec):

• Sun 13 Dec 2026 — 5 Nights South Bali and Lombok. The only long sailing of the season, and it sits perfectly inside the break. This one sells out.
• Tue 22 Dec 2026 — 3 Nights Phuket. Back on Christmas Day afternoon.
• Tue 29 Dec 2026 — 3 Nights Penang and Melaka. Returns New Year's Day.

March break 2027 (Sat 13 Mar – Sun 21 Mar):

• Fri 12 Mar 2027 — 2 Nights Weekend Getaway. Sails at 8pm on the last day of Term I. Zero school missed.
• Tue 16 Mar 2027 — 3 Nights Penang and Melaka. Sits dead centre in the break.

Official MOE school holiday dates

These come from the Ministry of Education's published academic calendar for MK, primary and secondary schools.

The 2027 school year runs Mon 4 Jan to Fri 19 Nov 2027, across four terms: Term I to Fri 12 Mar, Term II from Mon 22 Mar to Fri 28 May, Term III from Mon 28 Jun to Fri 3 Sep, Term IV from Mon 13 Sep to Fri 19 Nov.

Two term-boundary dates matter more than people realise. Term I ends Friday 12 March 2027, so a Friday-evening sailing that day is free. And Term II starts Monday 22 March 2027, so anything returning on Tuesday 23 March costs you a day.

Year-end break 2026: every sailing inside the window

This is the break that is actually in front of you, and it is the longest of the year at six weeks. Every sailing below departs and returns inside the holiday — no school days missed on any of them.

How to choose from that list

• You want the proper holiday feeling: Sun 13 Dec, 5 Nights South Bali and Lombok. It is the only five-night sailing on the schedule and the only one that reaches Indonesia. Note that Indonesia charges a Bali tourism levy of roughly SGD 13 per guest, payable on board, and everyone submits the Indonesian arrival card.
• You want a real day ashore without a long trip: any Tuesday Phuket sailing. You get an afternoon, an evening and a full morning in port because the ship stays alongside overnight.
• Christmas at sea: Fri 25 Dec, 2 Nights Weekend Getaway. Departs 8pm on Christmas Day.
• New Year at sea: Tue 29 Dec, 3 Nights Penang and Melaka. You are on board for New Year's Eve and back Friday afternoon.
• Two ports, two cultures, three nights: Penang for the food, Melaka for the old town. Tue 29 Dec is the only one in this window.

One honest caveat: December is the single most expensive month of the year on this ship, and the 13 December Bali sailing and the Christmas weekend fill up first. If those are your dates, book them rather than watching them.

March break 2027: five sailings, and one that costs you a day

The March break is only nine days, so the fit matters much more here.

Best of the five: Tue 16 March, 3 Nights Penang and Melaka. It sits in the middle of the break, gives you two port days, and you are home two full days before term restarts.

The Fri 12 March trick. Term I ends that Friday and the ship leaves at 8pm. Pick up the children, go straight to the terminal, sail the same evening. You gain a night without losing a minute of school.

If you are willing to spend leave: the Tue 9 March 3 Nights Phuket sailing is worth a look. It departs during Term I, but Wed 10 March 2027 is Hari Raya Puasa, a public holiday. So that sailing costs roughly two and a half school days rather than four, and it is priced as a term-time date rather than a school-holiday one. That price difference is usually significant.

June, September and year-end 2027: what we can and cannot tell you

We are not going to invent dates, so here is the honest position.

The current StarDream Cruises Singapore schedule (version V7, issued 24 August 2026) runs to mid-April 2027. The last published sailings are 11 and 13 April 2027. That means:

• Mid-year break, Sat 29 May – Sun 27 Jun 2027 — dates not released yet
• September break, Sat 4 Sep – Sun 12 Sep 2027 — not released yet
• Year-end break, Sat 20 Nov – Fri 31 Dec 2027 — not released yet

Based on how the line has released schedules so far, the next block usually appears around four to six months ahead. Expect the mid-2027 sailings to open somewhere between December 2026 and February 2027.

What you can plan on in the meantime: the weekly pattern is stable. Friday is the 2-night weekend sailing, Sunday is the 2-night Melaka or Port Klang, Tuesday is the 3-night Phuket or two-port sailing. Long sailings are seasonal and rare. So if you want the June 2027 break, work out which day of the week suits you now, and be ready when the dates open.

Long weekends you can use without a school break

These are the scheduled school holidays that sit next to a weekend, which makes a 2-night sailing possible without touching your leave.

Two dates to be careful with rather than to chase: Chinese New Year falls on Sat 6 and Sun 7 February 2027, and the surrounding sailings price at a premium alongside December. Good Friday is Fri 26 March 2027, just after Term II begins.

Which sailing length suits which child

This is the question we get asked most, and the honest answer depends far more on the child than on the itinerary.

• Under 4, or a first cruise: 2 nights. One night on board, one port morning, home before anyone is tired of it. The Sunday Melaka sailing is the gentlest version because it returns at 7am on Tuesday.
• Ages 5 to 12: 3 nights is the sweet spot. Long enough for the children to settle into the Little Dreamers Club and get through the slides and ropes course properly, short enough that it does not drag. The Phuket sailing gives a genuinely full day ashore.
• Teenagers: 3 nights minimum, 5 if you can. Teenagers take a day to stop being embarrassed by the ship and then do not leave the top deck.
• Multi-generational with grandparents: 2 nights with a port day. More sea days mean more sitting around, which suits some families and not others.

What a school-holiday cruise really costs

The advertised fare is not the total. Here is the full picture so you can budget properly.

Indicative from-fares, per person, twin share

Those are the lowest fares across the season. School-holiday, Chinese New Year and Christmas dates price well above them — often half again, sometimes double. That is the trade-off for sailing when the children are free.

What gets added on top

• Gratuities — SGD 27 per guest per night for Interior and Oceanview, SGD 33 for Balcony, SGD 40 for The Palace. Charged to your onboard account, waived for children under two. For a family of four in a Balcony room on a 3-night sailing that is SGD 396.
• Fuel surcharge — SGD 10 per guest per night on bookings made from 1 October 2026.
• Port charges — quoted with the fare, vary by itinerary.
• Wi-Fi — a standard single-device package is SGD 24 for 2 nights and SGD 36 for 3. Buying before you sail is cheaper than buying on board. The Palace suites include a package.
• Little Dreamers Club — the first two hours of each session are free, then SGD 30 an hour for ages 2 to 4 and SGD 25 an hour for ages 5 to 12. Most families never exceed the free window.
• Bali tourism levy — about SGD 13 per guest on the 13 December sailing only.

Why this ship works for a school holiday

Not every cruise suits families, so here is what the official ship material actually confirms:

• 18 decks, 3,352 guests at lower berth — big enough that children are not underfoot, small enough to cross in a few minutes
• Six water slides and a Kids Water Park on Deck 16
• Ropes course and a 35-metre zipline across Decks 17 and 18 aft
• Little Dreamers Club, ages 2 to 12, Deck 16 midship
• Four restaurants included in the fare — The Lido buffet, both Dream Dining Rooms and Function 8
• A certified halal-friendly setup since 2022, with a dedicated halal line at The Lido and a surau on Deck 5 — the only ship sailing from Singapore with that arrangement

Before you book: the practical bits

• Terminal: Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore, 61 Marina Coastal Drive, Singapore 018947. Nearest MRT is Marina South Pier (NS28), then a short taxi or shuttle. With luggage and children, most families take a taxi directly.
• Passports: valid at least six months beyond the end of your cruise, for every guest including infants, plus any visas your passport needs.
• Travel insurance: StarDream recommends it, and on a school-holiday booking you have made months ahead it is worth having.
• Check-in windows: assigned by the line, and school-holiday sailings are full ships. Arriving at your slot rather than early genuinely saves queuing.
• If a child gets motion sickness: talk to your doctor before you sail and plan a quiet first evening. A midship cabin on a lower deck moves least.
• Book school-holiday dates early. Connecting rooms and four-berth cabins go first, and they are the ones families need.

What changed since this guide was first written

A cruise schedule page is only worth reading if it is honest about what has moved. This guide previously listed itineraries that are no longer on the Singapore schedule:

• 4 Nights Ko Samui and Redang — no longer on the published Singapore schedule
• 5 Nights Bangkok (Laem Chabang) and Ko Samui — no longer on the published Singapore schedule
• The 5-night Bali sailing is now South Bali and Lombok, and there is exactly one of them: 13 December 2026
• The 2026 March, June and September breaks have passed, so those sections have been replaced with the year-end 2026 and 2027 calendars
