Disney Adventure Cruise Ship: Size, Capacity and Full Specifications

Disney Adventure is 208,108 gross tons, 342 metres long and 46.4 metres wide, with 19 decks, 1,954 staterooms and room for up to about 6,700 guests plus 2,300 crew. She is the largest ship Disney Cruise Line has ever operated, the first Disney ship homeported outside the United States, and she has been sailing from Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore since 10 March 2026.

That is the short version. But the numbers on their own do not tell you much — 208,000 tons means nothing until you know what it buys you on board. And several widely published figures for this ship simply do not agree with each other. So this page gives you the specifications, the context, and an honest note on which numbers are solid and which ones are not.

How big is 208,000 gross tons, really?

Gross tonnage is a measure of enclosed volume, not weight — which is why the figure sounds enormous and still does not tell you how crowded a ship feels. The number that actually matters is space per guest.

At her maximum 6,700 guests, Disney Adventure gives roughly 31 gross tons of space per guest. Sailing at a more typical load of around 4,200, that rises to close to 49. For comparison, Genting Dream is 150,695 GT carrying 3,352 guests at lower berth — about 45 GT per guest.

The practical takeaway: on a quiet sailing, Disney Adventure feels genuinely spacious. On a full school-holiday sailing with every upper berth occupied, it is a busy ship, and the queues at Marvel Landing reflect that. If you can choose your dates, this is the single biggest lever you have over how the ship feels.

Against the rest of the Disney fleet

Disney Adventure is not a slightly bigger Disney Wish. She is roughly 45% larger than the Wish-class ships and carries about 700 more staterooms. That gap is why she has six rotational restaurants instead of three, and why she needed a terminal upgrade in Singapore before she could dock.

She did not start life as a Disney ship

This is the most interesting thing about the vessel, and most specification pages skip it.

Disney Adventure was ordered by Genting Hong Kong in 2016 as Global Dream, the lead ship of a two-ship Global class built for the Asian market. Construction began at MV Werften in 2018. When the yard went bankrupt in January 2022 and Genting Hong Kong collapsed, the half-finished hull was left with no owner. The second hull of the class never found a buyer and was scrapped between October and December 2022.

Disney bought the first hull in November 2022 for roughly EUR 40 million — a remarkable price for a ship of this size — and Meyer Werft completed her at the Wismar yard. Reported total cost to Disney of finishing the ship is around USD 1.8 billion.

Why this matters practically: the hull, engines and general arrangement were designed for Asian cruising from the outset, by the same industry that built Genting Dream. Disney rebuilt the interiors and the entertainment, not the ship. That is also why her layout — a huge open-air central garden, an enclosed shopping street, a broad family pool deck — feels different from the rest of the Disney fleet.

Staterooms: the breakdown that tells you the most

Of the 1,954 staterooms on board, the published split is roughly:

• 1,326 verandah staterooms — about two thirds of the ship
• 561 inside staterooms
• 67 oceanview staterooms

Look at that oceanview figure again. Sixty-seven, out of nearly two thousand rooms. That is unusually few, and it has a direct consequence for anyone booking: the oceanview category on Disney Adventure sells out fast and is often priced close to a verandah. If you want a window rather than a balcony, book early or be prepared to take the balcony instead.

Most standard staterooms sleep up to four, with Disney's split bathroom — toilet and basin in one compartment, shower and basin in the other — which genuinely helps four people get ready at once. Concierge categories sleep four to six, and Deck 16 has Concierge Family Verandah rooms with balconies facing into the atrium, which is unusual on any ship.

Capacity and crew

The headline figure everyone quotes is 6,700 guests. That is the maximum, with every upper berth, pullman and sofa bed occupied. Cruise lines plan around double occupancy instead — two people per cabin — and for Disney Adventure that figure is quoted between roughly 4,000 and 4,700 depending on the source.

With about 2,300 crew, that works out to roughly two guests per crew member at typical occupancy, which is a strong ratio for a mass-market family ship and is one reason service scores on this ship have held up through a difficult first season.

Engines, propulsion and speed

Disney Adventure runs six MAN 48/60CR engines producing 96,000 kW (about 129,000 horsepower), driving three ABB Azipod XO thrusters.

Azipods are electric propulsion units mounted under the hull that rotate a full 360 degrees. Two things follow from that, and both are noticeable on board: the ship manoeuvres into Marina Bay without tugs far more easily than a conventional shafted ship, and because the propellers sit outside the hull rather than turning shafts through it, vibration at the stern is lower. On a sailing that is mostly sea days, that is not a trivia point — it is the difference between a smooth night's sleep in an aft cabin and a humming one.

Service speed is about 23 knots, roughly 43 km/h. She does not need more than that: the 3-night and 4-night Singapore sailings are built around sea days rather than long overnight passages.

The methanol question, answered properly

You will see Disney Adventure described as "the world's first green methanol-powered cruise ship." That is close to right, but the precise wording matters.

She is a dual-fuel ship, designed to operate on green methanol — methanol produced from biomass or captured carbon rather than fossil feedstock. Dual-fuel means the engines can also run on conventional marine fuel. How much of any given voyage actually runs on green methanol depends on what is available to bunker, and global green methanol supply is still small.

The claimed benefit, when running on green methanol, is a reduction of at least 60% in CO2 and around 80% in nitrogen oxides, with sulphur oxides and particulate matter effectively eliminated.

Here is the part that connects back to the homeport choice. Singapore is the world's largest bunkering port and has been building out alternative-fuel bunkering capability. Ahead of the maiden sailing, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore ran a multi-agency exercise with Disney Cruise Line and Marina Bay Cruise Centre specifically on methanol response procedures. Disney did not choose Singapore only for the passenger market — it is also one of the few ports in the world where fuelling a ship like this is practical.

Beyond fuel, the ship carries waste heat recovery, energy-efficient HVAC and onboard water treatment. Disney's stated corporate goal is net zero greenhouse gas emissions for its direct operations by 2030.

Where she sails, and what she does not do

Disney Adventure sails year-round from Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore, at 61 Marina Coastal Drive, under an agreement running to at least early 2031.

Be clear about this before you book, because a lot of older articles get it wrong: Disney Adventure has been a cruise to nowhere. There are no calls at Penang, Phuket, Melaka or Ho Chi Minh City, and there are no 5-night sailings from Singapore. The Langkawi calls from December 2026 are the first and only port stops announced so far, and they sit on selected 4-night departures only.

What all that space is used for

The ship is organised into seven themed areas rather than the usual decks-and-venues layout:

• Marvel Landing — all three rides, including Ironcycle Test Run, an 820-foot track and the longest roller coaster at sea, plus Pym Quantum Racers and Groot Galaxy Spin
• San Fransokyo Street — a covered Big Hero 6 street with lanterns, neon and an arcade
• Toy Story Place — the family pool deck, slides and splash zones
• Wayfinder Bay — Moana's open-ocean amphitheatre
• Disney Imagination Garden — the open-air central garden with the Garden Stage
• Disney Discovery Reef — a floor-to-ceiling digital reef, the quietest space on board
• Town Square — the atrium, shops and main character meets

Dining is scaled to match: six rotational restaurants rather than Disney's standard three, because the ship carries roughly 2,000 more guests than the next-largest in the fleet. The nightly headline is The Lion King: Celebration in the Sky, a fireworks and music spectacular over the ocean with a score narrated by Shah Rukh Khan.

Numbers that do not agree, and what we use

Ship specifications get copied between sites without checking, and Disney Adventure has more conflicting figures in circulation than most. Here is where the disagreements are, so you can judge for yourself:

• Staterooms: 1,954 or 2,111? Disney's own material and public vessel records give 1,954, with a published split of 1,326 verandah, 561 inside and 67 oceanview. Some cruise databases still list 2,111, which appears to derive from the original Global Dream configuration. We use 1,954.
• Decks: 19 or 20? Both figures are published. The difference is almost certainly whether a technical deck is counted. We use 19.
• Crew: 2,300 or 2,500? The 2,500 figure circulated widely before launch. Current records give about 2,300. We use 2,300.
• Double occupancy: 4,000, 4,222 or 4,700? Sources genuinely differ. The 6,700 maximum is consistent everywhere. We quote the range rather than pick one.
• Tonnage: 208,000 or 208,108? The rounded figure is Disney's marketing number; 208,108 GT is the measured one.
