About this trip

Most people flying into Singapore for a cruise waste the days either side. This package uses them. You get three unhurried days in the city — Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa, the hawker centres, Marina Bay after dark — and then the Friday-evening Genting Dream weekend sailing, which never docks anywhere, so the whole cruise is the ship itself. It is the easiest first cruise we sell, and the one we book most often for guests coming from India, Malaysia and the Philippines.

   Arrive Singapore, Marina Bay by night

   Meet our representative at Changi and transfer to your hotel. If your flight lands early, the Gardens by the Bay Supertree Grove light show at 7:45pm is the right way to start — it is free, it is five minutes from the Marina Bay hotels, and it sets the tone for the trip.

   Singapore

   Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands and the city loop

   Cloud Forest and Flower Dome in the morning while it is cool, then the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark observation deck. Afternoon city tour: Merlion Park, the Civic District, Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. Dinner at a hawker centre — Lau Pa Sat or Maxwell, whichever is closer to your hotel.

   Singapore

   Sentosa island day

   A full day on Sentosa. Universal Studios Singapore if you have children or like rides, S.E.A. Aquarium and the Skyline Luge if you would rather take it slowly. Finish at Palawan Beach or the Wings of Time show. Back to the hotel in the evening.

   Onboard

   Board Genting Dream at Marina Bay

   Check out, and transfer to Marina Bay Cruise Centre for afternoon check-in. The ship sails at around 8pm. Dinner on board, then the water slides, the Zodiac Theatre show or Bar 360 — the first night is the best time to book your specialty restaurant and show seats.

   At sea

   A full day at sea

   No port, no alarm. Six water slides, the zipline and ropes course, the pools, the spa, the Palace sun deck if you have upgraded. Kids clubs run all day. This is the day guests tell us they actually relaxed.

   Singapore

   Disembark and fly home

   The ship berths back at Marina Bay around midday. Clear immigration, collect your luggage and transfer to Changi. If your flight is late, Jewel Changi's Rain Vortex and the canopy park are inside the airport and worth the two hours.
